Dutch Princess Alexia turns four

  • 26 June 2009

Els in the Netherlands kindly sends this update:

“On June 25 the government information service made an announcement concerning Princess Alexia of the Netherlands. She is the second daughter of Crown Prince Willem-Alexander and Princess Maxima of the Netherlands. Alexia has one older sister, Catherina-Amalia (five years old) and one younger sister, Ariane (two years old).

“Today, June 26, Alexia turned four. Therefore Alexia will go to school this year, starting June 29. She will attend the same school as Amalia (De Bloemcampschool in Wassenaar). Alexia will only have two weeks of school until July 13 because of the start of the summer holiday. School resumes on August 24. Alexia already has met her new teacher. And she already has friends, who she knows from kindergarten.

“According to her parents, Alexia wishes a cool backpack as present. Furthermore she is really glad to start school. Alexia can’t wait to start school, and her parents have to help her with the countdown until her first day.

“Amalia is doing well in school. So well that she will probably start third grade after the summer holiday. She also obtained her swimming certificate B last week.

“Ariane wants to go to school, too. Her mother tried to explain her that she has to wait years instead of nights until she can go. According to Maxima, her youngest has enormous power and will-power. She is also very talkative.

“On Queensday 2009 (in Apeldoorn) the three girls were supposed to join the royal family during the parade. But this was cut short by the horrible ‘accident.’ The girls were really looking forward to the event. Images and suchlike of the accident were kept away from the girls.”

Thank you to Els for sending this wonderful translation!
