    Hello,

It is strange how everyone has forgotten about the Vietnamese royal family. It has only been about half a century ago that this very colorful and interesting family went into exile in France. One of the young prince, Toan Nguyen, grandson of the last Emperor Bao Dai is an absolutely charming gentleman who now lives in the U.S. and France. He is a great but elusive philanthropist and patron of the arts. I found a mention of him in the article below. If you are interested in learning more about this fascinating personality, email me and I will supply what information I have.

Joseph, thank you for your comment. The link you provided isn’t working, but here are a few books about the Vietnamese monarchy for anyone who’s interested:

Does anyone have any idea where (city) Prince Toan Nguyen resides at the present time? What is his profession?

  5. Veronica West says:

As far as I know Toan Nguyen does not go by the title Prince. People address him as HIH or His Imperial Highness. He appears frequently in Paris, Palm Beach, Monte Carlo and recently Ho Chi Minh City, formerly Saigon. Although highly educated he is not formally employed but travels the world for philanthropy.

Spoke with Toan last night at an upscale bar in Austin, TX. Incredibly nice guy.
