If you’re interested in the Tudors, you probably knew all about Henry VIII’s affair with Anne Boleyn’s sister, Mary, before Philippa Gregory’s popular novel The Other Boleyn Girl came along. But did you know that Prince William’s wife, the Duchess of Cambridge (a.k.a. Kate Middleton), could be a descendant of King Henry and Mary Boleyn?
Maybe so, since it’s always been suspected Henry might have been the real father of two of Mary’s children, Catherine and Henry Carey. Catherine Carey, in turn, was the mother of Elizabeth Knollys, who is said to be a direct ancestor of Catherine Middleton, although not everyone believes it.
If you’d like to learn more about Mary Boleyn, she is the subject of a recent biography by Alison Weir. (I own this book, but haven’t read it yet!)
