Royal bestsellers: March & April 2012

Lately World of Royalty visitors have been snapping up new books about Queen Elizabeth II, the Queen Mother, and Queen Victoria.

Nonfiction is usually more popular with site visitors than fiction, but historical fiction about royalty seems to be growing in popularity, with one novel popping up at #3 on this list.

The Queen Mother: The Untold Story of Elizabeth Bowes Lyon by Lady Colin Campbell. Promises “stunning revelations” about Britain’s Queen Mother, wife of George VI and mother of Elizabeth II.

A Magnificent Obsession by Helen Rappaport. The final months of Britain’s Prince Albert and the retreat of his wife, Queen Victoria, from public view after his death.

The Sister Queens by Sophie Perinot. Novel about 13th century sisters Margaret of Provence, wife of King Louis IX of France, and Eleanor of Provence, wife of King Henry III of England.

Her Majesty: Queen Elizabeth II and Her Court by Robert Hardman. A biography with 16 pages of color illustrations.

The Kings’ Mistresses by Elizabeth C. Goldsmith. About the Mancini sisters, members of the court of Louis XIV. They abandoned their husbands and took to the road, and their scandalous behavior became a sensation.
