Sneak peek: March 2013 new royalty books

There aren’t many new royalty books scheduled for publication next month. So here’s a shorter-than-usual sneak peek at what is coming our way.

Herod the Great: Statesman, Visionary, Tyrant by Norman Gelb. How King Herod of Judea transformed his kingdom into a thriving state.

A Brief History of Cleopatra by M. J. Trow. Draws on recent archaeological finds and fresh interpretations of ancient texts.

Tudors, Stuarts & the Russian Tsars edited by Olga Dmitrieva and Tessa Murdoch. About diplomatic and cultural exchanges between the courts of Britain and Russia from the reign of Henry VIII to the death of Charles II. Illustrated.

George III, National Reform, and North America by George L. Bullion. Collection of essays on King George III’s impact on the American Revolution.

The Duchess of Drury Lane by Freda Lightfoot. Novel about Dorothy Jordan, the 19th century comic actress who was the mistress of the future King William IV.

For more about these and other new royalty books, visit the Royalty.nu Books page. The full list of new March titles will be published on March 1.

If I could only read one of these books, I would pick “The Duchess of Drury Lane.” Which book would you choose?
