Sneak peek: February 2014 new royalty books

It’s time for an advance look at some of next month’s new royalty-related books:

The Queen’s Bed by Anna Whitelock. This book reconstructs Queen Elizabeth I’s quarters and the lives of the women who attended her.

A Royal Passion by Anne M. Lyden. Essays about Queen Victoria’s role in shaping the history of photography as well as photography’s role in shaping her image. Includes more than 150 color images.

Monarchy and the End of Empire by Philip Murphy. The House of Windsor, the British government, and the postwar Commonwealth.

Blood Royal by Eric Jager. In 1407, Louis of Orléans, brother of French king Charles VI, was murdered in Paris by a band of masked men. The crime was investigated by Guillaume de Tignonville — one of history’s first detectives.

Girl on the Golden Coin by Marci Jefferson. Novel about Frances Stuart, a favorite of England’s King Charles II.

The full list of new royalty books will be published on the Royalty.nu Books page on February 1.

If I could only read one of these books, I’d probably pick The Queen’s Bed because I’d like to learn more about life at the court of Queen Elizabeth I (plus, it has the best cover). Which book would you choose?
