What new books are publishers planning to offer royal watchers next month? Here’s your sneak peek! (As always, publication dates are subject to change.)
Napoleon by David A. Bell. This biography emphasizes the importance of the French Revolution in understanding the career of French emperor Napoleon I.
The Last Hindu Emperor by Cynthia Talbot. A look at traditions about 12th century Indian ruler Prithviraj Chauhan, who was overthrown by Muslim armies from Afghanistan.
The Wise King by Simon R. Doubleday. A biography of Alfonso X, a 13th-century Spanish king with an affinity for Islamic culture.
Patricians and Emperors by Ian Hughes. Concise biographies of the last rulers of the Western Roman Empire.
The Conqueror’s Wife by Stephanie Thornton. A novel about the women in Alexander the Great’s life, including his half-sister Thessalonike and his wife Roxana.
By the way, I’m not entirely done researching next month’s new royalty books, so it’s possible that I’ll update this list before December arrives.
If I could only read one of the books listed above, I think I’d pick Patricians and Emperors because of my interest in the Roman empire. Which book would you choose?
