Sneak peek: March 2016 new royalty books

Next month looks like a good one if you enjoy reading books about British, European, and/or Chinese royalty. Here’s your sneak peek! (As always, publication dates are subject to change.)

Queen Victoria by Paula Bartley. Examines Victorian Britain from the perspective of the queen, drawing from her own diaries and other contemporary sources.

Queen Elizabeth II: A Celebration of Her Majesty’s 90th Birthday by Tim Ewart. An illustrated look at the Queen’s life and reign with reproductions of important documents.

Frederick the Great: King of Prussia by Tim Blanning. Biography of the autocrat whose rule transformed Europe and changed the course of history.

The Moon in the Palace by Weina Dai Randel. Novel about the concubine who became China’s Empress Wu. Followed by a sequel, The Empress of Bright Moon (published in April).

Sisi: Empress on Her Own by Allison Pataki. Married to Austrian emperor Franz Joseph, Sisi feels stifled by strict protocols. (This is a sequel to The Accidental Empress.)

To see the full list of new royalty books, visit the Royalty.nu Books page on or after March 1.

If I could only read one of the books listed above, I would probably pick Tim Blanning’s book because I’ve never read a biography of Frederick the Great. Which book would you choose?
