Sneak peek at May 2018 new royalty books

There will be no shortage of new royalty books next month! Here’s your sneak peek. (As always, publication dates are subject to change.)

Harry: A Biography of a Prince by Angela Levin. The author is a veteran journalist on royal affairs.

The Black Prince by Michael Jones. A biography of Edward of Woodstock, son of England’s King Edward III.

The Shadow Emperor by Alan Strauss-Schom. Biography of Napoleon III, France’s most polarizing emperor.

Praetorian by Guy de la Bédoyère. The rise and fall of Rome’s imperial bodyguard. Fiercely loyal to some emperors, they toppled those who displeased them.

The Power of Gold: Asante Royal Regalia From Ghana edited by Roslyn A. Walker. Focuses on adornments and implements used by Asante royals from the 18th century to the present day.

Jane Seymour: The Haunted Queen by Alison Weir. Fiction. Jane longs to be a nun, but at the court of English king Henry VIII she is drawn into a dangerous political game.

My Name Is Victoria by Lucy Worsley. Fictionalized account of future British queen Victoria’s unhappy early years as seen through the eyes of her childhood companion, Victoire Conroy. For young adult readers.

For the full list of May’s new royalty books, visit the Royalty.nu Books page on May 1. But there’s no need to wait. You can go there right now to see the March and April new book lists!

If I could only read one of the books listed above, I think I’d pick The Shadow Emperor because I like biographies and I’d like to learn about Napoleon III. (The author has written other books, but currently you can only find them on Amazon.com if you search for Alan Schom, not Strauss-Schom.)
